Blast Off Your Mind (2016)

As a child, I often drew pictures that combined several unrelated genres together—machines against dragons, science against magic, anything that would not necessarily belong together in conventional storytelling. But I believe that makes unconventional storytelling all that much appealing to audience wanting to find a fresh perspective.

I wanted to express that sentiment within this simple image, showing how narrative creativity is limited only by our imagination. I guess this is why I have fondness for works that employ this concept to great effect, such as Rob Bowman’s Reign of Fire, or Jackie Chan’s legendary use of ladder as a weapon in Police Story 4: First Strike, along with his countless other makeshift fighting tools—there are just so many ways to put several pieces together.
