Ellis Island Concept Art (2012)

During college I participated in undergraduate research Emergent Game Group {egg}, a group dedicated towards design research, exploring design strategies that promote emergent social behavior in interactive social media platforms involving virtual space, primarily multiplayer video games.

I was assigned to Ellis Island, a massively multiplayer online educational game set in New York City during the Prohibition Era of 1920s-30s with emphasis on immigration experience. One of the game’s feature was a social conflict symbolizing a debate between two characters, where players build their arguments and deconstruct their opponents’ using debate methods taking form of tarot cards that represent various argument strategies.

Below are the various tarot arts I’ve made during my time with {egg}.
